WE-Speak Caribbean Podcast Episode 7: How to Digitize your Business for success
WE-Speak Caribbean is a podcast created by the Caribbean Export Development Agency, to give a voice to Caribbean women in business.
Recognising that female entrepreneurs in the region are likely to have more than their fair share of stories to tell about their experiences doing business, and that Caribbean women in business face a considerable number of obstacles, CEDA created the WE-Speak podcast to share these experiences, and provide expert guidance on how to navigate such challenging situations.
The podcast is part of the WE-Xport (Women Empowered through Export) programme, launched by CEDA in March, 2018, to strengthen the export capabilities of Caribbean female owned businesses. Twenty firms from across the region, including Bijou Lakay, participated in the first cohort of the programme, which came to an end earlier this month with an inspirational Fireside Chat, featuring success stories from participants, as well as highly successful and influential Caribbean women who have made their mark on the world stage.
The latest episode of the podcast focuses on the use of technology to support business growth and reach the global consumer. Bijou Lakay Owner and Creative Director, Daphn?e Floreal, talks exclusively to CEDA about her experience, starting with the early days of Facebook, before realising the potential of the web, and building her first website in 2014. In particular, Daphn?e highlights the role her website has played in growing the wholesale business, explaining that the ability to browse the site and put orders together online has made it much easier for North American buyers, who make up 40% of her customers, to purchase her product.
